Video Watching Sites

We have all been watching TV shows like “America’s funniest home videos” or “America’s funnies animals” for decades know and we still can not imagine what sorts of interesting stuff people all over the world can catch on tape for the public to see. What is different from a few decades ago when these kinds of shows started airing is that most of us have mobile phones, equipped with a decent quality camera. With that said, every one of us is a potential video maker. As a result of that, there are literally millions of videos being created hourly around the globe. Now if we only had some kind of way to bring them all to the general public. Well actually, we do!

We have the internet of course! The creation of a simple website is easier than ever, and even moderately educated individuals can do that. Thus, a plethora of video sharing and watching sites is already on the web, whether it is site for all kinds of videos, or it is a site dedicated to some specific genre, like architecture or tutorials.

The sheer number of sites like these is enormous but I will try to bring some of the most visited to your attention.

  • www.youtube.com – there cannot be an article about watching videos online that will not mention something about YouTube. It really is a titan of a website if I may say so. You can find all kinds of videos on it, ranging from short funny clips, through video tutorials about all kinds of stuff like programming or makeup, and all the way up to whole movies. The reason why YouTube became what it is today is because everyone can make a personal account and upload personal video clips. These videos can then be watched by people all over the world. The site sports a very good search engine which also features a suggestions possibility.

  • www.metacafe.com – Metacafe is one of the largest video sites on the internet, and it is attracting 40 million+ viewers monthly! It differs from YouTube because it doesn’t have whole movies or music videos. It is focused on relatively short movies, stating that the average length of a video on their site is 90 seconds. Metacafe specializes in bringing raw entertainment to its viewers, meaning that they put their accent on videos that inspire, amaze and make you laugh. As for the look of the site, it encompasses a neat way of arranging the videos in respective categories like comedy, cool commercials or pets & animals. It also has a “Most viewed” and “Rising stars” link, the former about the videos that are most watched, and the latter about videos that are raking a lot of views lately.

  • www.ovguide.com – This is a site that is basically a search engine for every other video watching site on the internet. With that said, there is no video that you cannot find on this site. Although it exists for only a few years (founded in 2005) it boasts a hefty 35 million visitors per month, as well as 150 million pageviews. It has a search bar where you can type in the keywords about a specific video, or if you are not looking for something special, you can navigate the various tabs, including “Movies”, “TV”, “Music” or something else. For a video site to be integrated into OVGuide’s database, it has to go through extensive reviews, ensuring that the videos on it are valuable to the viewers and that they are not overburdened by adds or malware.

There are a lot more sites that you can browse for interesting videos, but there will hardly be a video out there that you will not be able to find on these three sites. Even if you are not satisfied with the choice I offered, you can go to www.videomenu.com and see if anything catches your attention there. Whatever option you choose, you will wind up having the greatest time of your life, watching videos tailored to your desires.
